This is definitely a step up in terms of appearance when compared to most skillets in this price range. Performance: the unit heats incredibly fast and evenly. When looking for simple rice cooker, Our Main criteria was simplicity and ease of use and this Panasonic model seemed like a good choice. The biggest difference from the old cooker is the non stick pan the rice is cooked in. I can’t fault the rice this thing cooks. I love the time delay function: I usually set it before I leave for work and its hot and fluffy when I get home. I have also used it to steam asparagus, which went well. My only complaint is that it came with the steam escape unit detached, and with no instructions now to assemple it, though it was quite easy once I figured it out.
